HISTORY

Built in 1948 and in operation since 1952, the property stands strong and solid and offers updated lodging; the historic significance was being the FIRST LODGING built on US Hwy 14 between Madison and La Crosse, Wisconsin, a 120 road miles stretch 

ARCHITECTURE

 

Designed by JC Caraway - a Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice at the time, the project was supervised by the Master.

The USONIAN architectural lines are a Frank Lloyd Wright signature style, straight lines and clean spaces, non clutter - the idea was simplicity for furnishing and use of space.

Frank Lloyd Wright's apprentice - late architect, J.C. Caraway designed the Inn in 1948; the construction project was completed in 1952 known as “The Rest Haven Motel.”
